I just noticed this error after fetching emails with Outlook.

    mail 0017 POP3S !ERROR opening/encoding/sending /sbbs/data/file/0001.in/Z1BINKD.TXT

The only thing in my mail log is

Apr 8 02:31:38 bbs synchronet: mail 0017 POP3S MIME Encoding and sending /sbbs/data/file/0001.in/Z1BINKD.TXT
    Apr 8 02:31:38 bbs synchronet: mail 0017 POP3S !ERROR opening/encoding/sending /sbbs/data/file/0001.in/Z1BINKD.TXT

Does the file at that location exist? What's its size?

    There is not 00001.in directory.

I can check the backups to see if it existed before I tried to fetch the mail. --- SBBSecho 3.37-Linux

OK, looking at the backup there is a 0001.in directory but not any files. I don't understand why it would be looking in there. Shouldn't an attachment be saved with the email itself?

I can maybe do some testing later.

I'm not sure what is meant by "saved with the email itself" - only MIME-encoded attachments are actually part of the body text and looking at the attachment, it appears to be a FidoNet NetMail attachment, which is always a discrete file and needs to be stored *somewhere*, so we store it in a user-specific "inbox" directory.

I'm not sure what is meant by "saved with the email itself" - only MIME-encoded attachments are actually part of the body text and looking at the attachment, it appears to be a FidoNet NetMail attachment (not MIME), and FTN NetMail attachments are always a discrete file and needs to be stored *somewhere*, so we store it in a user-specific "inbox" directory.

Ah ok. Well, it disappeared somehow. I'll do some testing and let you know what I find.

Well, seems to be working so I'll close this out and assume I probably deleted it sometime in the past for some reason.
